This series will get to know some of the female idols who are girl crush material. A ‘girl crush’ is defined as a woman or girl who is the object of one’s admiration. In other words, one of the female K-Pop idols that fans wish was their best friend or girlfriend. This will be based on their style, personality, and just overall vibe. BLACKPINK’s Lisa opened the series for us last week. Readers voted for MAMAMOO’s HwaSa in our weekly poll (at the end of the article) to be featured this week. Let’s get to know today’s girl crush MAMAMOO’s HwaSa! HwaSa is famous as a member of the girl group MAMAMOO but made her solo debut in February 2019. HwaSa is well-known for her down-to-earth personality. There was a huge stir in Korean media after she made an appearance on the Korean variety show “I Live Alone”. In fact, her appearance on the show made a lot of people fall for her personality. It made such a huge impact that she was offered a permanent position as a cast member on the show. As she showed her daily life on the show, HwaSa also showed herself without makeup on and eating a lot of food. Compared to her celebrity persona, netizens loved seeing her in such a normal setting and saw her as relatable.
She became well-known for her big appetite and her love for foods that people don’t think that a celebrity would enjoy. One of her favorite foods is gopchang which is pig or cow intestines cooked in different ways. It is considered Korean soul food. In this video, she goes to a restaurant alone (which is not as common in Korea as in other parts of the world) and orders a portion of gopchang for two people. She eats it so deliciously that it feels like watching a mukbang (eating broadcast).
HwaSa would make the perfect date to eat your favorite foods with! Considering that most idols maintain a certain image, we love to see her so comfortable in her own skin, owning who she is, and sharing that with her fans.
After she made her solo debut, people fell for her overflowing charm and stage presence even more, too. Here is a live performance of her most recent hit song ‘Maria’. She definitely kills it on stage. She shows her sexy side and powerful aura.
HwaSa is also simply gorgeous. She has spoken many times about how she does not meet the typical Korean beauty standard but has shared that self-love is what gives her confidence regardless. We have to agree she is beautiful!
On top of that, she just has a cool aura that we can’t get enough of.
