However, there are idols who expressed interest in acting and have showcased their potential in music videos but have not been given the opportunities to become actors yet. It makes us wonder what if these idols could potentially be in a K-Drama and what types of roles they could play. Kpopmap has previously covered a similar topic in this article here if you want to check that out. Without further ado, here are 5 K-Pop idols we need to see act in a K-Drama sometime soon.

1. BLACKPINK’s Rosé

Rosé has made herself a household name as a member of BLACKPINK and as a soloist. She’s been given many opportunities to build her career when releasing her solo album “R” and becoming the global ambassador for high-fashion brands. Why not add being a K-Drama actress to the list of accomplishments? Rosé has shown she can pull off raw emotions as seen in the ‘Lovesick Girls’ and ‘Gone’ music videos so it is easy to imagine Rosé being a successful actress in the future. Based on how much she loves singing, she could be the main female protagonist in a musical K-Drama like Red Velvet’s Joy was in “The Liar and His Lover.” Her goddess aura also makes her a great candidate for a role in a fantasy show like IU in “Hotel Del Luna.” Regardless of the type of role, Rosé should share all of her talents with the world whether it be acting, singing, or fashion endeavours.

2. TWICE’s JiHyo

As the leader and main vocalist of world star girl group TWICE, JiHyo is a versatile and talented queen. After winning a coveted spot as a TWICE member on the JYP survival show “Sixteen,” JiHyo has since become one of the most beloved female K-Pop idols of the 3rd Generation. Most ONCEs are aware that she was scouted at a young age by JYP Entertainment with the intention of being an actress but soon switched over to training as a K-Pop idol. Knowing that she wanted to become an actress and trained for many years, we’d love to see JiHyo featured in a K-Drama in a sizable role. The caring best friend to the lead female protagonist archetype makes total sense for JiHyo since she has a refreshing and charming personality.

3. TWICE’s JeongYeon

Another member from TWICE, vocalist JeongYeon has so much potential as an actress. A fun and interesting fact about JeongYeon is that she is the younger sister of Gong SeungYeon, an established Korean actress. With this correlation, ONCEs expected JeongYeon to follow in her sister’s footsteps and venture into acting. However, fans were incredibly heartbroken when the ‘Scientist’ singer told a fan in late 2021 that JYPE turned down opportunities for her to feature in dramas. We think JeongYeon should definitely be allowed to pursue acting and would thrive in the industry. JeongYeon could easily play a multitude of roles. Her versatile hairstyles and concept styling could translate to her having the range to play soft-spoken female protagonists to a rich CEO. Once JeongYeon feels ready, we’ll be waiting for her to make her acting debut on television.

4. VIVIZ’s EunHa

Former GFRIEND and current VIVIZ member EunHa is a bit different compared to the other idols on this list. She is a former child actor who had a role in the 2007 K-Drama “The Clinic for Married Couples: Love and War” but hasn’t acted in a major role since becoming an idol. This innate talent for acting was only further cemented when she graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul, an esteemed arts school many K-Pop idols attend, with a degree in Stage Arts. We think her making a comeback on the small screen would be helpful to growing her fanbase. EunHa’s innocent image and cheerful demeanour would be a great fit for the lead female protagonist in a slice-of-life romance set in high school or university.

5. SEVENTEEN’s S.Coups

When thinking of great K-Pop rappers, the leader of SEVENTEEN and their Hip-Hop unit S.Coups definitely comes to mind. You’d be surprised to find out though that he also attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul and graduated as a theatre acting major. This penchant for acting definitely means he has a desire to become an actor sometime in the near future and we think he would do amazing. His soft facial features would allow him to play easily likeable protagonists but the versatility he’s shown in the group’s releases could make him tap into playing more antagonistic and mysterious roles. We’re rooting for him to make his K-Drama debut soon!   Who would you add to this list?
